Fed: Safety experts investigate failed radar equipment
SYDNEY, Jan 2 AAP - Air Services Australia has claimed radar equipment vital in keeping
small aircraft away from airliners has failed or been used incorrectly about 10 times
in the past month, it was reported today.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that during the incidents radar transponders used
on small aircraft were used in the wrong way, malfunctioned or were not turned on.
These transponders had become the main protection for light aircraft sharing airspace
